The Lefty Kreh Fishing Trail in the Hereford area of Gunpowder State Park, Maryland was dedicated June 11, 2012 to Bernard “Lefty” Kreh. The trail markers are located at the Masemore Rd. parking access along the 7.2 mile Catch and Release section and are a fine tribute to this fly fishing pioneer and legend. With the exception of Western Maryland and small streams along the northern tier of the state, brookies have been supplanted by wild browns and stocked rainbows. Protecting brook trout habitat is a primary goal of state Trout Unlimited chapters.
